Global Hunger Index. What caused and contributed to India’s poor rank?

India is a global leader in food production. It enjoys a high degree of food and nutritional security. The life expectancy of Indians has steadily increased and is now at 70 years, just two years short of world’s life expectancy of 72 years.

Yet, the recently released Global Hunger Index (GHI) showed India as a country facing “serious hunger”.
